Claire Leahy

OXFORD – Claire J. (Reardon) Leahy, 85, formerly of Oxford, died Thursday, February 22, 2007, at Millbury Healthcare Center in Millbury, after a long illness. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, John J. Leahy of Oxford, who died in 1998. She is survived by three children, J. Michael Leahy and his wife Patricia of Millbury, Noreen A. Harty and her husband Roger of Oxford, and Brian A. Leahy and his wife Karen of Rutland, a brother-in-law, Edward Powers of Clinton, two sister-in-laws, Lillian Reardon of Lancaster and Helen Leahy of Lincraft, NJ; seven grandchildren, two great granddaughters, one great grandson, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers, Daniel Reardon and Edward Reardon; and a sister, Miriam Powers. She was born in Leominster, the daughter of the late Edward P. and Theresa (Joyce) Reardon, and lived in Clinton before moving to Oxford in 1951. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1938 and attended Worcester State College in Worcester. Mrs. Leahy was a member of St. Ann's Church in North Oxford and was a former member of the St. Roch's Church Sodality and Book Club. She was a member of the Oxford Women's Club. Mrs. Leahy was an avid gardener, loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2007, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Monday, February 26, 2007, from 5-7 at the funeral home.
