EAST DENNIS - Charles H. O'Neil, 54, of Island St., died Friday, June 10, 2011, at Epoch of Brewster, after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Barbara J. (Moberg) O'Neil of East Dennis; six children, James Edwards of Yarmouth, Nicole Patenaude of Poland, ME, David Edwards of Webster, Cindy Cunningham of Worcester, Megan O'Neil of South Dennis, and Kathleen O'Neil of South Dennis; two brothers, Michael T. O'Neil of Webster and Kevin P. O'Neil of Worcester; three sisters, Sharon A. O'Neil of Webster, Kathleen M. Blash of North Oxford, and Marjorie E. Henderson of Webster; seven grandchildren, Sophie, Kyle, Kailey, Ava, John, Isabella, and Irelynn; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas A. O'Neil Jr. of Webster who died in 2005. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Thomas A. and Marjorie E. O'Neil, and lived in Auburn and Webster before moving to East Dennis 15 years ago. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1974. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. O'Neil worked at Wyman-Gordon in Worcester for 25 years, retiring 7 years ago. He also served as Union Steward at the company. He loved to play softball and played for various leagues in the Worcester area. He enjoyed sports, and especially loved the Red Sox and Patriots. Mr. O'Neil was a member and past president of the Vietnam Vets M.C., and he was an avid fisherman and loved the beach at Race Point. Above all, his family meant everything to him. The family would like to thank Marjorie and Rex Henderson and his nephew Bobby Kyle for the dedicated care they provided during his illness. They would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to Epoch of Brewster. A funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Tuesday, June 14, 2011, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester Veteran's Shelter, 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
