OXFORD - Cecelia M. (Smalarz) Rogers, 86, of Old Depot Road, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011, in her home, with her family. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Francis E. "Eddie" Rogers who died in 2007. She is survived by four daughters, Dianne M. McIntyre and her husband Edward of Mashpee, Linda J. Rogers of Auburn, Jo-Ann E. Rogers of Pomfret, CT, and Francine C. McCarthy and her husband Roger of Oxford; seven grandchildren, Jennifer McIntyre, Jamie McIntyre, Jason McCarthy, Heather (McCarthy) Radcliffe, Kristina McCarthy, Andrew Vaitkunas, and Peter Vaitkunas; a great grandson, Nolan McIntyre; a nephew, William Mohan; and two nieces, Kathleen Hair and Nancy Mercier. She was predeceased by her foster parents, Fred and Jennie Jollymore. She was born in Indian Orchard, MA, the daughter of the late Blazej and Josephine (Witaszek) Smalarz, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1954. She was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving with the WAVES. Mrs. Rogers was a teacher's aide at the Clara Barton School and Woodward School in Oxford for 21 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. Ann's Church in North Oxford and was a member of the church choir. She volunteered for the Oxford Senior Center for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2011, at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will be private at North Cemetery, Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Church, P.O. Box 488, North Oxford, MA 01537. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., is directing the arrangements.
