OXFORD - Catherine T. McGeary, 68, died January 18, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital, after a long illness. She leaves two sisters, Carol A. and her husband Allan Bishop Jr. of North Carolina, and Lori and her husband Wayne Urella of Webster; and two brothers, Patrick J. McGeary of Oxford and David J. McGeary of Webster. She also leaves ten nieces and nephews and eleven great nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved and spoiled for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents, William J. and Rita F. (Caplette) McGeary in 1967 and 2012 respectively; and by her sister, Linda M. Marcotte in 1993.
Cathy was born in Webster on August 12, 1948, and was a proud resident of Oxford since 1958. She graduated in 1966 from Oxford High School and went on to graduate in 1967 from David Hale Fanning Trade School for Girls with a cosmetology certificate.
Cathy spent most of her life styling and owning several salons after training under her Godmother, Dolly Pizzetti, for a few years. Among the salons were Cathy's Head Shoppe, Deja Vu Hair Design, and Katie McGee's. She took great pride in her work.
Cathy enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, going to Maine now and then, shopping and dining out with her sisters and mother. When they could sneak away, Cathy and her mother went to Foxwoods - for neither of them had ever met a slot machine they didn't love.
