OXFORD – Bruce Owen Baribeau, 80, of Federal Hill Road, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, in his home after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Jane E. (Johnson) Baribeau who died in 2015. He is survived by two children, Stephanie L. Iwanow and her husband John of Oxford, and Nathan B. Baribeau of Oxford; two grandchildren, Ashley L. Haggerty and her husband Thomas of Dudley, and Cody J. Chauvin of Oxford; two great-grandchildren, Ellieana L. Haggerty and Lawson S. Haggerty; and a close friend, Katherine Cogswell of Worcester. He was born in Worcester, son of the late George and Bessie (Smith) Baribeau, and lived in Millbury before moving to Oxford in 1970. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Mr. Baribeau owned and operated the New Deal Café in Millbury for 20 years. Later, he worked in the bakery department at Shaw’s Supermarket for 23 years prior to retirement. He enjoyed building and flying radio control model airplanes, and loved to tinker around the house. He also enjoyed photography, astronomy, and antiquing.
The family would like to thank Brookhaven Hospice, especially nurses Rachel and Melinda, for their exceptional care during his illness.
