OXFORD - Brian J. “Bunny” O'Reilly, 82, formerly of Oxford, died January 1, 2016, at Hospice House in Greenwood, SC. Brian is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith (Carpenter) O'Reilly; four daughters, Dawn Weston, Sue Lawrence and Maureen O'Reilly, all of Greenwood, SC, and Christine and husband Jason Cox of Myrtle Beach; a brother, Paul and wife Jean O'Reilly of Oxford; his sister-in-law, Barbara O’Reilly of Oxford; five grandchildren, Nikki Lawrence, Crystal Martin, Robert Weston, Jr., Reilly Cox and Brady Cox; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Rose O’Reilly; and two brothers, Shane F. O’Reilly and Hugh Michael O’Reilly.

Born August 17, 1933, in Franklin, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Bernard and Erna (Ziegengeist) O'Reilly. Previously, he lived in Newport, NH, and North Adams, MA. He was a graduate of Oxford High School and graduated Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, having served in the Korean War.

Mr. O'Reilly retired from Westinghouse (now Eaton) after 35 years of service as an Industrial Engineer and Safety and Hygiene Administrator. He was given a special award upon retirement for never having missed a day of scheduled work. He was also formerly employed with the Gatewood Tennis Center where he performed many tasks including tennis instruction. Previously, he worked for the Russell Harrington and George Myer Companies.

A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, which he joined in Oxford, MA. He was a former member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford. Brian was also a member of the American Legion Post 20, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, The Venture Riding Club, The Professional Tennis Registry, the US Tennis Association and the US Racquet Stringers Association.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 15, 2016, at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. A private burial was held at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
