OXFORD / SEBRING, FL - Blanche Veronica (Meszkutowicz) Wehenkel, 96, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 at her residence in Sebring, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. Blanche was born on May 9, 1915 in Worcester, MA to Benjamin and Veronica Meszkutowicz. She was employed as a seamstress at the Novelty Pants Company in Worcester for many years, retiring as a member of the Amalgamative Clothing Union. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park, FL. Blanche was an avid BINGO player and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She loved taking cruises with her husband and family. While living in Oxford, she enjoyed making ceramic items for family and friends, served on the PTA and worked as a poll worker for many years. Blanche was a life member of the Women's Auxiliary of VFW Post 8696 in Palm Coast, FL. Mrs. Wehenkel is survived by her husband Walter whom she married in 1943; her daughters, Barbara Lafleche of Holly Hill, FL and Sharon Wehenkel of Sebring, FL; her son Walter Wehenkel, Jr. (Carol) of Port Clinton, OH; seven grandchildren, Walter Carl Wehenkel, III of Port Clinton, OH, Marie Wehenkel of Kentucky, Chris Kiley and Michael Jones of Bunnell, FL, Michael Kiley of Holly Hill, FL, Kevin Kiley of Oxford, MA, and James Kiley of Delaware; and seven great grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Boulevard, Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852-3914. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is directing the arrangements.
