WEBSTER - Blanche E. (LaPreay) LaPlante, 95, died Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Transitional Care Unit at Hubbard Regional Hospital in Webster. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Wilfred J. LaPlante of Webster, who died in 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Janice E. Malkowski and her husband Richard of Webster; her sister, Pauline Wilbur of Rhode Island; four grandchildren, Lisa Maniatis, Scott Malkowski, Cheryl Chaffee, and Beth Sklarz; six great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by four brothers, Thomas LaPreay, Adelord LaPreay, Frederick LaPreay, and Henry LaPreay; and two sisters, Clara Menzone and Helen Reano. She was born in Putnam, CT, the daughter of the late Joseph and Cecelia (Cormier) LaPreay, and lived in Putnam and Oxford before moving to Webster 44 years ago. Mrs. LaPlante worked at Stevens Linen in Dudley many years ago. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Dudley. Most of her time was spent caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful caregiver and put her family above all else. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013, at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Friends and family are respectfully requested to meet at the church. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery in Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Autism Speaks, 1060 State Road, 2nd Floor, Princeton, NJ 08540. Paradis Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
