OXFORD - Bernard H. Ray, Jr., 56, of Walcott St. and West Yarmouth, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2008. He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Susan (Perlmutter) Ray; his sisters Barbara Ray and her lifetime companion Paul Lekberg and Helen Lalone and her lifetime companion Michael Bullock; his brother-in-law David Perlmutter and his fiancée Monique Franc; and his niece Jennifer Mason and her husband Mark. Bernie was born in Oxford, son of the late Bernard and Stella (Cyganiewicz) Ray, Sr. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1970 and from Quinsigamond Community College in 1972. He worked as the General Manager at Lelanite Corporation and as a valued employee at the Auburn Home Depot. He served as the Chairman of the Conservation Commission for many years. Bernie was loved and respected by many for his generosity and sense of humor. He was a skillful farmer and enjoyed the ocean, gardening, quahogging and traveling with Susan. A public graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Roch's Cemetery, Federal Hill Rd., Oxford. Calling hours are Friday, October 17, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made in Bernie's name to the VFW Scholarship Fund, 20 Federal Hill Rd., Oxford, MA 01540.
