Benjamin Hamilton, Jr.

OXFORD -- Benjamin F. Hamilton, Jr., 74, of Harwood St., died Wednesday, February 2, 2011, in his home thirteen years to the day that his wife, Marielle (Latendresse) Hamilton passed away. He is survived by a son, Donald F. Hamilton and his wife Anne of Sterling; two daughters, Carole M. LePage and her husband Gordon of New Sharon, ME, and Lori A. Hamilton of Oxford; a sister, Phyllis M. Olszta of Southbridge; five grandchildren, Jackie, Alex, Brandon, Nick, and Noah; a great granddaughter, Chelsey; several nephew, nieces, cousins, and many friends. He was predeceased by a daughter Sharon L. Hamilton; and four brothers, John F. Hamilton, Bernard B. Hamilton, James L. Hamilton, and Donald F. Hamilton. He was born in Webster, the son of the late Benjamin F. and Lucetta (Ziegler) Hamilton, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. He attended Oxford Public Schools and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Hamilton owned and operated Ben Hamilton Tree Service in Oxford for over 30 years. He was the tree warden for the Town of Oxford from 1972 - 2001, was a truck driver at Wajers Express, and worked at Northern Tree. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post 58 in Oxford and enjoyed gardening. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at the Oxford United Methodist Church, 465 Main St., Oxford. Military burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford, with the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard participating. Calling hours are Monday, February 7, 2011, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.
