OXFORD – Beatrice R. (Duquette) Rodier, 93, of Park Street, died Friday, May 20, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Thomas J. Rodier, in 1999, daughter Elizabeth R. Mokrzecki in 2015, and brother Normand C. Duquette in 1928. Bea was passionate about family and education.
After marrying in 1944, she and Tom raised nine children. She is survived by eight: Jeanne M. Hayes and husband James of Milford, NH; James T. Rodier and wife Deborah of Hampton, NH; Susan R. Huer and husband Derek of Marshfield; Anne D. Rodier and husband Paul A. Fritzsche of Kennebunk, ME; Joseph T. Rodier and wife Patricia of Oxford; Barbara R. Hendricks and husband Paul of Millville; Thomas P. Rodier of Oxford; and Jacqueline R. Granger and husband Richard of Oxford. She leaves behind 26 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, all of whom she cherished. Bea embraced and was embraced by her late husband’s siblings and their families.
She was born in Pawtucket, RI, daughter of the late Ulric C. and Regina M. (Caron) Duquette, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1933. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1942. Bea worked for the Town of Oxford for 20 years, serving as town treasurer for 16 years before retiring in 1980. Previously, she worked at State Mutual in Worcester. She was a member of the Retired State, County, and Municipal Employees Association of Massachusetts. Bea was a member of St. Roch’s Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and made baptismal robes. She was a charter member of the Oxford Woman’s Club. She enjoyed the Red Sox, and especially loved family reunions. Her gifts of quilts and other stitchwork are treasured by her family.
A funeral will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester. Calling hours are Thursday, May 26, 2016, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
