CHARLTON - Barbara S. (LaGier) Vogt, 64, of Knollwood Drive, died peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2014, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, after a sudden illness. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Ralph E. Vogt, Jr. of Charlton; four children, Renee M. Sliby of New Hartford, CT, Dawne S. Vogt-Ryan of Newton, Ralph E. Vogt III of Torrington, CT, and Daniel P. Vogt of Central Village, CT; her mother, Grace (Mullarkey) LaGier of Simsbury, CT; two brothers, Paul LaGier and James LaGier; two sisters, Karen Mucha and Joan Sikorski; nine grandchildren, nephews, nieces, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. She was raised in Simsbury, the daughter of the late Robert LaGier, and lived in Charlton since 1996. Mrs. Vogt spent most of her years caring for her home and raising her children in New Hartford. She had several part-time jobs, including a short but memorable time as a school bus driver. She was an aerobics instructor, volunteered for many organizations, and always enjoyed helping others. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Oak Hill Bible Church, 40 Sacarrappa Rd., Oxford. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private at a later date at Simsbury Cemetery in Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Barbara may be made to the Oak Hill Bible Church, 40 Sacarrappa Rd., Oxford, MA 01540.
