Augustus Costa, Sr.

WEBSTER - Augustus "Gus" M. Costa, Sr., 82, of Golden Heights, died Friday, January 18, 2013, at the T.C.U. at Hubbard Regional Hospital in Webster. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Marion (Muniz) Costa who died in 2007. He is survived by three children, Augustus Costa Jr. of Gardner, Connie Deschenes of Dudley, and Anita Gilman of Florida; three brothers, Manuel Costa Jr. of Plymouth, Milton Costa of New Bedford, and Albert Rocha of New Jersey; four sisters, Vickie Duarte of New Bedford, Maria Alves of Mattapoisett, Lillian Weaden of New Bedford, and Lorraine Lobo of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Kimberly Deschenes of Dudley, Mike Stevens Jr. of Florida, and Taryn Gilman of Florida; and six great grandchildren, Antonio Taylor Jr. of Dudley, Korielle Stevens of Florida, Santino Stevens of Florida, Anna Stevens of Connecticut, Latavia Christie of Florida, and Anthony Gilman of Florida. He was predeceased by a son, Morris Costa of San Francisco who died in 2003; two brothers, Frank Rocha of New Bedford and Charlie Costa of Boston; and a sister, Laura Pires of New Bedford. He was born in East Freetown, MA, the son of the late Manuel Costa and Mary (Oliver) Rocha. Mr. Costa worked at Madigan Construction Company in Worcester for 21 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Laborer's Union Local 243 in Auburn and the 200 Sportsmen Club in Webster. He was a member of St. Louis Church in Webster. A funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Church, 15 Lake St., Webster. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, January 22, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
