DUDLEY - Audrey L. (Armstrong) Bacon, 78, of Durfee Road, died Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Harrington HealthCare at Webster, after a 20-year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Leroy Bacon of Dudley; her brother, Wayne K. Armstrong and his wife Barbara of Meriden, CT; two sisters, Lora Dell Kemp and her husband Leonard of New Port Richey, FL, and Evelyn R. Grovesteen and her husband William of Dudley; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a sister, Vivian A. Durfee; and two brothers, Guy B. and David W. Armstrong. She was born in Webster, the daughter of the late Robert B. and Sigrid E. (Johnson) Armstrong, and was a lifelong resident of Dudley. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1953, attended Atlantic Union College, and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Nichols College in Dudley. Mrs. Bacon taught at the Worcester Industrial Technical Institute in Worcester for 25 years, retiring in 1992. Previously, she worked at American Optical in Southbridge and Thom McCann in Worcester as a computer programmer and systems analyst. She was a member of the Quinebaug Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. For many years, she was a board member of Tri-Valley Elder Services and was the former director of the Senior Center in Dudley. Mrs. Bacon enjoyed organizing trips for the Dudley Seniors, and will be remembered as someone who loved to make people happy. Memorial calling hours are Friday, August 28, 2015, from 6-9 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Corbin Cemetery, Corbin Rd., Dudley.
