MILLBURY - Arthur R. Tower, 85, of Horne Way, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his family He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ivy D. (Grimbly) Tower; six children, William Tower and his wife Bridget, Keith Tower and his wife JoAnn, Karen Mahan, Patricia Yursha and her husband Carmen, Wayne Tower and his wife Mary, and Mark Tower and his wife Cheryl; thirteen grandchildren, Julie and Nicholas Tower, Kelli and Matthew Tower, Stephanie Mahan, Samantha Lolax, Krystle Rutkiewicz, Jonathan Yursha, Brittany Burlingame, Meaghan and Katie Tower, Zackary and Josh Tower; four great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Ivy, Lucan, and Ben; an expected great grandchild, Baby Lolax arriving in April; a brother, Harold Tower and his wife Anita; and many nieces and nephews. He was born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of the late Arthur L. and Ethel (Park) Tower, and lived in Canada and Worcester before moving to Millbury in 1960. He was a Canadian Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Tower was a sonic inspector at Wyman-Gordon Company in Worcester for 38 years, retiring in 1988. After his retirement, he worked at I.B.A. in Millbury for 21 years. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in the Wilkinsonville section of Sutton, and was a member of the Local 2285 Steelworker's Union. Mr. Tower enjoyed football, the Patriots, and especially loved the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was a great family man who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at St. Vincent Hospital - Critical Care Unit, 2 North, for their exceptional care and support. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 3 Pleasant Street, Sutton. Burial will follow at Central Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are Friday, February 3, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
