CHARLTON - Anthony F. "Tosh" Polletta Jr., of Burlingame Road, passed away at home on Saturday, February 26, 2011, where he was surrounded by all that he loved and cherished, and his beloved dogs. Tony was diagnosed with colon cancer at age 46. Despite a devilish fight, he enjoyed the last 9 years traveling, watching his family grow, and loving and laughing with many friends. He is survived by his wife Janice Kordes Polletta of Charlton; his daughter, Angela M. Penny of Southbridge, and two sons, Enrique D. Polletta and his wife Arlynn of Bellingham, and Anthony F. Polletta III and fiancé Amy Steiger of Worcester; sister Maria O'Connor and husband Rory of Oxford; two brothers, Vincent Polletta of Dudley and Gino Polletta and his wife Ann of Holden; four grandchildren, Dominic, Wyatt, Adeline, and Anthony; six nephews and nieces, Tristan, Isabel, Sofia, Jody, Vinny and Danny, and his Godchild, Roisin. Also his Aunts and Uncles, Gordon and Eda Oliosi of Buzzards Bay, Jay and Rose Silvestri of Webster, Louis Polletta of Webster, and Henry and Loraine Polletta of Webster and cousins Gordon, Vinny, Patty, Ronnie, Dick, Michael, Monica, Mark, Sherry and Maureen and many lifelong friends. He was born in Webster, the son of late Anthony F. and Anne D. (Domoracka) Polletta Sr., and lived in Dudley and Oxford before moving to Charlton in 1989. He graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster in 1973 and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for Massachusetts DPW as he completed his degree in Computer Science at Quinsigamond College. For many years he was a systems analyst at Digital Computer Corp, and a private computer consultant. Carpentry, cooking, and working in his yard, forever striving for that perfect lawn, were main stays in his life. He was an avid New England sports fan, and proposed to his wife during a Bruins game. He treasured skiing relishing the slopes from California to Austria. Tosh played soft ball, racquetball or hockey throughout his life. But his love was golf, he played in several leagues, including Speedway in Thompson, Kettle brook in Paxton, and the Northborough League, enjoying the many friends he made while playing. Tosh delighted in his Airedale dogs, opening his home to rescued Airedales for the past 16 years, always stating they had rescued him. In the Town of Charlton he was a member of committees over the years; attending selectman and town meetings to stay informed and participate in his community. The most important aspect of Tosh's life was his family. They filled his life with absolute joy.
