WEBSTER - Anthony “Tony” E. Butler, 66, devoted husband, friend, father, and grandfather, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones after an epic battle with cancer. Tony embraced family, friends, and community all through his life, and will be remembered as an icon of hard work, vision, and love.
Tony was born in Worcester, son of Frederick and Assunta “Suzie” (Galli) Butler, and lived in Worcester and Oxford before moving to Webster in 2013. Tony leaves his beloved wife Maureen (Fitton) Butler of Webster, his daughters Kursten Butler of Webster, Victoria Borowy and her husband Joseph Olson of Oxford, Quinn Borowy and fiancé Ben Bradford of Rutland, and a son, Dr. Anthony F. Butler and his wife Doralis Pérez Soto, of Worcester. Tony took great pride in his loving grandchildren, Teegue, Ty, Blake, Reese, Oscar Antonio, and Carmen Veronica.
Tony dedicated his life to the art of building, in more ways than one. He was a dedicated carpenter who for many years operated his own business, Butler Builders, a company that strove to offer quality contracting at an affordable price. At the same time, Tony built a thriving, loving family who celebrated his greatest moments, travelled with him to far off destinations, and rallied around him in his final days. For many, Tony was a philosopher, a great thinker who analyzed and spoke of nature, history, art, relationships, and life. He enjoyed following the New England sports teams. He was an avid traveler who was blessed to have made his way to many parts of Europe, Latin America, and the United States. One of his final public statements: “Live your life!”
The family would like to thank Central Mass Hospice and Dr. Constantine at Dana Farber, for the exceptional care they gave Tony during his illness.
