Anna Mccarthy

OXFORD - Anna M. (Polselli) McCarthy, 73, of Wheelock St., died on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge, from complications of stomach cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones when she passed. She was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Chester C. McCarthy of Oxford who died in 1990. She is survived by her son, Sean M. McCarthy and his wife Jennifer of Charlton; a sister, Dorothy Vegnone of Webster; three brothers, Richard Polselli of New York, Alfonso Polselli of Worcester, and Robert Polselli of Grafton; and many nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Alphonso and Josephine (Ranuaro) Polselli, was raised in Worcester and lived most of her life in Oxford. She graduated from Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown. Mrs. McCarthy was a clerical worker for the State of Massachusetts for several years, retiring many years ago. She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church in Oxford, and was active in all church activities. Mrs. McCarthy was an independent, selfless, giving, and caring woman. Most important to her were her family, friends, and church. She had a great concern for others, and always put everyone else before herself. Her giving lifestyle showed in the care she gave to her nephews and nieces, the many children of friends that she babysat for over the years, and the devotion and pride she had for her son, Sean. She will be greatly missed by her family and large circle of friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the First Congregational Church, 355 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, April 27, 2010, from 5-9 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.
