Anna Genander

NORTH OXFORD – Anna B. (Szamocki) Genander, 91, of Southbridge Road, died peacefully on Saturday, December 29, 2007, in her home. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Francis Russell Genander of North Oxford; her daughter, Janice A. Gagner and her husband Ronald of North Oxford; her granddaughter, Christine Gagner, her grandson, Craig Gagner and his wife Michelle, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by four brothers, Leonard Szamocki, Anthony Szamocki, Joseph Szamocki, and Rev. John Szamocki; and two sisters, Viola Kullas and Florence Czechowski. She was born in Dudley, the daughter of the late John and Leokadia (Taberski) Szamocki, and lived in Webster before moving to North Oxford 65 years ago. Anna worked at Charlton Woolen Mills for many years, retiring in 1983. She was extremely active as secretary for the Textile Worker's Union of America (T.W.U.A.) for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and baking her famous brownies. Her life was spent doing all she could for others. Anna will be greatly missed by all. Anna's family would like to thank the VNA Care Hospice of Worcester, Harmon Healthcare, and give special thanks to Nicole and Sue for all that they have done. A funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, January 1, 2008, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
