Alice Vaidya

UXBRIDGE – Alice P. (Duchesne) Vaidya, 69, of Aldrich Street, died Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Milford Regional Medical Center in Milford.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Gajanan “Jack” M. Vaidya of Uxbridge; three children, Sheila Vaidya Dibb and her husband Thomas Dibb of Rutland, Keith Vaidya and his wife Cheryl of Uxbridge, and Neil Vaidya and his wife Kristen of Uxbridge; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Kalinna, Benjamin, Cameron, Jacob, Brayden, and Madelyn; her cousins, Judi and Bill; and an intimate group of close friends. She was born in Lowell, daughter of the late Albert J. and Alice I. (St. Ives) Duchesne, and lived in Lowell before moving to Uxbridge in 1980. She graduated from St. Louis Academy in Lowell and received nursing certification from Tewksbury State Hospital.

Mrs. Vaidya was a licensed practical nurse for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts - Department of Developmental Services in Charlton for 9 years, retiring in 2012. Previously, she worked at St. John’s Hospital in Lowell, was a bus monitor for Uxbridge Public Schools, and worked at Blackstone Valley Physical Therapy. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Uxbridge and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She enjoyed reading, going out to eat, had a great love for the city of Lowell, and dearly loved all of the family pets. By far her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, from 4 – 8 PM in the Buma Funeral Home, 101 N. Main St., Rte. 122, Uxbridge. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 23, 2017, at 9 AM from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to the Uxbridge Firefighters Relief Association, 25 S. Main St., Uxbridge, MA 01569, an organization with close ties to the family and dear to Alice’s heart.
