DUDLEY – Alice Ann (Burke) Kelly, 92, of Barry Avenue, died Wednesday, December 5, 2018. She is survived by her son, Raymond L. Kelly III of Dudley; two brothers, John Burke of Florida and William Burke of Plymouth; a sister, Lorraine Graham of Maine; and two grandchildren, Sean and Brendan Kelly. She was born and raised in Saugus. Mrs. Kelly cared for her sister who passed at a young age, and her father who passed shortly after. She now joins her sister Mary, her parents Jesse and John, her husband Ray, her grandson Bryan, and her two brothers Joe and Richard in heaven.
Mrs. Kelly worked for the phone company for over two decades where she met her husband Ray, who jokingly introduced himself as “I’m Jan, Jan the janitor…”. And so, she would enjoy (or endure) that sense of humor another 60 years. She also worked in jewelry and flowers.
Mrs. Kelly was president of the Women’s Guild at St. Mary’s Church in Holliston, where she also sang in the choir. She was a Cub Scout leader, hockey mom, and most memorably cleaned the house every Saturday morning with Irish music blaring. She and her husband enjoyed the theater in New York, jazz and classical music, and were Boston Symphony supporters. They visited Ireland and Rome where she sang with her choir at the Vatican.
She was always happy, polite, kind, and giving – always cheerful to the core. A true role model for us all especially in these times. “What really matters?” she would say.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 North Main St., Suite 104, Natick, MA 01760. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
