Alfred Karle, Sr.

GRAFTON – Alfred J. Karle Sr., 86, of Eddy Pond in Auburn and formerly of Grafton, died Wednesday, May 25, 2016, in his home surrounded by his wife and family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jeanne M. (Poirier) Karle; five children, Kevin Karle and his wife Sharon, Richard Karle and his wife Lisa, Philip Karle and his wife Amy, Kathy Levicki-Karle, and Alfred Karle Jr. and his wife Anita; his sister, Gloria Steele; 13 grandchildren, Angelique, Alfred III and his wife Theresa, Jennifer, Christine and her husband James, Alise, Christopher and his wife Heather, Daniel and his wife Ashley, Matthew, Melissa, Nicholas, Alyssa, James, and Ashley; seven great grandchildren, Yazmin, Joseph, Nicholas, Camden, Mason, Makenna, and Madison; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Alfred E. and Jeannette (Vigeant) Karle, and lived most of his life in Worcester before moving to Grafton in 1979. He attended Worcester Boys Trade High School and served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

Mr. Karle worked at the Johnson and Bassett Company in Worcester for 42 years and the Lampin Corporation in Uxbridge for 5 years, before retiring in 1995. He was a former member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Worcester, St. Philips Church in Grafton, and St. James Church in South Grafton. Mr. Karle was a member of the Greendale Men’s Club in Worcester and was an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 60 in Worcester. He meticulously cared for his yard and loved nothing more than spending time with his family.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in North Grafton. Calling hours are Friday, May 27, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
