Alfred Davis

OXFORD – Alfred B. Davis, 70, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus, Worcester. He was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Esther M. (Stevens) Davis, who died in 1994. He is survived by five children, Alfred D. Davis and his wife Nancy of Sturbridge, Curtis I. Davis and his wife Anne of Los Gatos, CA, Mary Lou A. Sharma and her husband Gulshan of Boscawen, NH, Lou Ann M. Goudreau and her husband John of Holland, and Scott V. Davis and his wife Tracy of Monson; four sisters, Iona Gauthier of Edgewater, FL, Eunice Ratcliffe of Webster, Beverly Chauvin of Quinebaug, CT, Joyce Thibert of Miles, OH; four brothers, Frederick Davis of Nims, FL, Philip Davis of Oxford, Gerald Davis of Webster, and Arthur Davis of Oxford; twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and over 200 nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister, Pauline Davis, and three brothers, Irvin, Russell, and Charles Davis. He was born in Webster, the son of the late Van Joseph and Florence (Cove) Davis, and lived most of his life in Oxford. Mr. Davis worked at American Stone Mix Company for 27 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed horse pulling, and, while fishing, tipping over canoes with lawn chairs in them. Among his numerous friends and family, he was loved and respected, with his presence always known and enjoyed. He will be remembered for his enormous heart, thinking of others well before himself. The greatest pride of his life was his family, and he was not afraid to show it. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Oak Hill Bible Church, 40 Sacarrappa Road, Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, April 8, 2008, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.
