ROCHDALE – Alex MacKenzie was born on May 14, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York.  He died at home in Rochdale, Massachusetts on February 5th, 2024, at the age of ninety-two.

Alex is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Dorothy.  She is the love of his life, he adored her.  Alex was the proud father of six children.  Scott MacKenzie (Jean), Mary Louise MacKenzie (Mike Johnson), Monica (Ken) Powtak, Donald MacKenzie, Anne MacKenzie (Alan Horgan), Alex MacKenzie (Katherine) and his eight grandchildren, Josh MacKenzie, Monique MacKenzie, Meghan MacKenzie, Kara Powtak, Lauren Powtak, Brian Powtak, Maggie Rose MacKenzie, and Angus MacKenzie.

Alex was a United States Navy veteran.  Following his honorable discharge from the United States of America Navy, Alex became a Master Lithographer.  Alex was truly a gifted man of many talents.  He beautifully renovated their home in New Braintree, by himself, and their waterfront summer house on the Great Lake in Maine.  Many happy summers and weekends were had by Alex and his family in Maine, Alex loved getting into his boat and spending hours fishing and boating.

There was never a project that Alex took on that was not beautifully and perfectly done from installing hardwood floors in his houses to making a wood bassinet with his own hands for his grandchildren.  He was an avid reader, he read The Boston Globe and Time Magazine from cover to cover and many books about the United States Navy and many other topics that he loved to read about.  Alex will be deeply missed by his family and many dear friends.
