Albert Debernardi

WEBSTER - Albert J. DeBernardi, 89 of Webster, MA, and Ft. Myers Beach, FL, passed away on January 7, 2017. He lived in Lexington, MA, for 40 years. He was a retired electrical engineer having worked 32 years for High Voltage Engineering Corp. in Burlington, MA, and 10 years for Data Instruments, Inc. in Acton, MA. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving on the Destroyer Escort John Q. Roberts as a landing craft operator and present in Tokyo Harbor on the day of the Japanese surrender. He was an avid sailor and racing skipper for many years and a life member and past Commodore of the American Yacht Club in Newburyport, MA.

Mr. DeBernardi is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eleanor (nee Maguire); two sons, Michael and wife Denise of Kinnelon, NJ, and Donald and wife Maureen of Waltham, MA; his daughter, Dianne Berthiaume and husband Kenneth of Webster, MA; and 8 grandchildren, Erin, Daniel, Nicolette, Mark, Jennifer, Christopher, Christina and Annmarie. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Anthony and Catherine DeBernardi; and his brother, Robert DeBernardi. He will be sorely missed by his loving family and his many friends. He lived an incredible life and enjoyed 26 years of retirement.

A funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 18 East Main St., Webster. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Webster. Calling hours are Friday, January 13, 2017, from 4-8 p.m., and again on Saturday, January 14, 2017, from 9-11 a.m., at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.
