AUBURN – Agnes C. (Amaral) Manger, 89, of Washington Street, died peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital, from an unexpected illness. She was predeceased by her husband of over 30 years, Ted Manger who died in 2015. She is survived by her nephew, George Amaral of North Oxford; two nieces, Betty Sylvia of Lakeville and Pat Bettencourt of Middleboro; and her lifelong friend, Peggy Schemel of New Jersey. She was predeceased by two brothers, Manuel Amaral Jr. and Rev. George Amaral; a sister, Elsie Amaral; and a nephew, Joseph Amaral. She was born in Taunton, daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Sousa) Amaral Sr., and lived in New Jersey and North Carolina for most of her life, before moving to Auburn last year.
Mrs. Manger was an elementary school teacher for many years in New Jersey and North Carolina. Prior to teaching, she was a nun for over 40 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Hendersonville, NC. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to Hawaii, loved playing bingo, taking day trips, and socializing in the dining room at Eddy Pond.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale at Eddy Pond in Auburn for their exceptional care and kindness.
A private graveside service will be held at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Asheville, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a Catholic charity of your choice. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
