NORTH GROSVENORDALE, CT -- A. Donald Sirard, 80, of Thompson, CT, died suddenly at home on May 17, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ricky Sirard; three children, Dianne Sirard, Gary Sirard and Dawna Sirard, his brother-in-law, Donald Efter, many nephews and a niece. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Sirard of Oxford, MA. He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, the son of the late Armand Henry Sirard and Victoria (Waltos) Sirard and lived in Oxford before moving to Thompson over 50 years ago. He graduated from Cole Trade School in 1951 and served as class valedictorian. Mr. Sirard worked for Ostrow Electric in Worcester for over 30 years, successfully transitioning from an electrician to a project manager; estimating and managing large electrical construction projects all over New England. He also served in the Navy Reserve for several years and was an active member of the Webster Elks. He was an avid stamp collector, loved gardening, fishing, traveling, lively political discussions and the Red Sox. He was a kind, generous man, quick with a joke and a smile that endeared him to all he met. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oxford. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery in Oxford.
