Shirley Snyder

August 25, 1925 — July 14, 2009

OXFORD - Shirley L. (Martin) Snyder, 83, of Forest St., beloved wife of John E. Snyder of Oxford and devoted mother to Paula A. Snyder McGeary of Oxford, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2009, at Radius Healthcare in Southbridge, from complications of pneumonia. In addition to her husband and daughter, she is survived by two brothers, Chester Martin and his wife Penny of Wrentham, and Robert Martin; a brother-in-law, Norman Beaulieu of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Arlene Beaulieu and Alice Harding; and a brother, William Martin. She also leaves two devoted and compassionate companions, Lavena Shenette and Trudy McGarry. Shirley and John celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on June 26, 2009. Shirley retired in 1988 from David Clark Company where she worked as a stiticher making astronaut suits. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her cat, Greyson. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at North Cemetery, Main St., Oxford. There are no calling hours. Flowers may be sent or donations may be made to the Summit Eldercare (PACE Program), 88 Masonic Home Rd., Charlton, MA 01507. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is directing the arrangements.
