Life Legacy
WEBSTER – Joseph V. Waskiewicz, Sr., 92, of School St., died Monday, August 8, 2011 . He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Helen (Mitsakos) Waskiewicz who died in 2009. He is survived by two sons, Joseph V. Waskiewicz Jr. of Webster, and Robert J. Waskiewicz of Westford. He also leaves behind his family, Dionysia Waskiewicz, Josephine L. Veglia, and his grandchildren, Victor J. Waskiewicz and wife Kathleen, Peter J. Waskiewicz and wife Valerie, Linda Waskiewicz, Christopher, Jessica, and Samantha, and two great grandchildren, Bryanna and Nekelle who always brought a smile to his face, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Bernice, Anna, and Mary. He was born in Webster, the son of the late Louis and Vincenta (Swirzbin) Waskiewicz, and lived in Webster all of his life. He enjoyed gardening and spending time at “The Lake” with his family.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving as a medic. He participated in the Normandy Invasion and the Liberation of Paris.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at St. Joseph's Garden of Peace in Webster. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 640 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608. Paradis Funeral Home, Oxford, is in care of the arrangements.
